If you’re a Brisbane local, you’ve probably noticed an increase in the amount of cranes and construction sites popping up all over the place right now.

Thanks to ongoing population growth, residential developments in Brisbane are set to boom this year. In this article, we take a look at some of the hottest places to be!

Upper Mount Gravatt

A new property report released by PRD Nationwide, shows that Upper Mount Gravatt has one of Brisbane’s highest projected rates of population growth and $179 million worth of developments planned in 2016. With excellent school choices, a short 16-minute drive to the CBD, easy access to all of the major freeways, and Griffith University right on your doorstep, it’s easy to see why more and more people are opting to live here.

Carina

With an average suburb age of 20-39 years old, Carina has become quite a popular destination for young professionals seeking a short commute to the CBD. With easy access to the Gold Coast and great lifestyle precincts, Carina also has an estimated $141.2 million worth of development in the works.

Taringa

Apartment blocks are the new big thing in Taringa. Ground floor units with a courtyard, or two car garages are set to be popular investment choices this year. With lots of new developments planned (up to 12 storeys high), a new public plaza lined up, and easy access to the train station a large number of people are choosing to build and invest in this neighbourhood.

Woolloongabba

Named as Brisbane’s ‘newest hotspot’ by Paul Riga, the associate director of Urbis, Woolloongabba is set for major growth this year. Also popular among new couples and young professionals, the suburb is a short distance from the CBD and the West End social scene. With a number of reports showing that young people would prefer to live closer to the city in an apartment block than have a big home out in the ‘burbs’, residential developers are selling up big on the lifestyle aspect of the property market.
