It’s officially Summer!
Get ready to conquer those hot days and nights as we unpack 10 ways to keep cool this Summer!
Let’s face it, Brisbane’s summer is an absolute scorcher, and more often than not, we find ourselves thinking through new ways to escape that Aussie heat. At Star Air Conditioning, the team have come up with 10 ways to get out and about this summer, while still staying cool.
Museum
When was the last time you visited the museum down at Southbank? Escaping the heat can involve catching up on history and checking out the displays on offer. The Queensland Museum is situated next to the cultural centre busway and South Brisbane train station making it easy to get there with your family wherever you’re based in Brisbane!
Movies
Summer is notorious for famous blockbusters. When the summer heat is too much to bear, you can take the time to chill out at your local cinema. If you’re on a budget, or wanting to save some money check out Cineplex cinemas which offers cheap movie tickets!
Casino
Casinos are starting to really pop out, especially with the new upcoming development of the Queens Wharf. They are designed to keep you comfortable so you can stay for long hours. If you’re 18 or older you can check out the entertainment they have on offer, eat at the restaurants, or even shop around. Definitely a cool place to escape the summer heat!
Bowling
Find some friends, or get the kids up off the couch for a few hours and head to the bowling alley. It is a great way to relax in the air conditioning for a few hours while being competitive. Most bowling alleys also have cafes and restaurants in them too.
Indoor Ice Skating
Turn summer into winter by visiting an Indoor Ice Skating rink. Check out Iceworld Olympic Ice Rinks and choose from 2 locations within Brisbane – find which rink is closest to you and cool down while exercising!
Get an Ice Cream
Head down to the Ice Cream shop with the family and bring along a pack of cards. There is no better way to beat the heat than licking your favourite ice cream and beating your wife or husband in a game of cards.
The Shopping Centre
This is the original place to, firstly, cool. And secondly, cool… the teenagers are onto it. The shopping centre provides the perfect place to stay for hours. Free parking, cinemas, shopping and places to eat and catch up with friends.
Go to an Air Conditioned Indoor Pool
Swimming Pools can be very humid and muggy, so take the time to find an indoor pool that has Air Conditioning. An idea is to head to a resort for the day and use all the facilities including the indoor pool!
Libraries
Have you ever checked out the state library? There are things always going on including displays, classes and workshops. Libraries provide a great place to wind down and read. Leave the library feeling cooled down and having learnt something!
Go to the beach
South East Queensland has some of the best beaches in Australia with golden sand and crystal clear water. Head down to Burleigh, which is an hour away, and catch a wave. Following that, find a nice shady spot and have some fish and chips. We recommend Burleigh Heads Fishmongers!
